Scott Robinson Technical Lead

I keep complex commerce systems trading and restore them when they fail.

I’ve worked with PHP since the 4.x era. Today, I lead work across Adobe Commerce, Magento and Laravel, connecting complex ERP, warehouse and third-party systems. I’m often brought in when critical faults cross system boundaries and resist straightforward diagnosis.

What I do for merchants

Seven services

Operations & uptime

Keeping stores trading through peak. Monitoring, incident response, release windows, rollback ownership.

Primary role · always on

Debugging & diagnosis

The one nobody else got to the bottom of: intermittent 500s, phantom duplicate orders, a queue that stalls only at peak. Evidence first, hypothesis ranked, fix last.

The thing I am actually known for

APIs

REST, GraphQL and SOAP. Designing them, consuming other people’s and proving whose end the fault is on when two vendors disagree.

Written, consumed, unpicked

Application security

Hotfixes applied rather than logged. CSP, dependency review, access scoping, keeping PCI scope small.

37 patches · zero applied unread

ERP & warehouse integrations

Order feeds, stock sync, fulfilment and returns across ERP, WMS and 3PL. Idempotent, replayable, observable.

Internal tools

Bespoke systems for the people running the business: triage screens, bulk operations, reporting that replaces a spreadsheet and a phone call.

Measured in hours returned

AI-assisted engineering

Where an agent genuinely earns its keep in a large, regulated codebase, and what code review has to become when nobody typed the diff. The newest of these and the one changing fastest.

Currently

Technical Lead at Deploy Ecommerce, running development and maintenance operations for multi-site Adobe Commerce retailers.

Typical week

Incident cover, an API argument between two vendors, a patch window and one internal tool nobody outside the warehouse will ever see.

Community

Active in the Adobe Commerce, Mage-OS and wider PHP communities: packages, patches, talks and answers.

Open to

Talks on operational resilience and agent-assisted engineering, architecture and integration reviews.
